Your apartment is situated in the little village of Coo, in the community of Stavelot. The location is just perfect. Coo is situated in the center of the Ardennes, which makes it easy to make day trips. From Maastricht to Luxembourg, from Durbuy to the High Fenn, it’s all within reach. The moment you pass your doorstep you will find yourself in the marvellous nature of the Ardennes, with many hiking routes and the possibility of many sports activities. Directly opposite to the hotel you will find the Waterfalls of Coo and the beautiful nature of the Ardennes. But also the lovely Stavelot, Malmedy, The Thermes of Spa, Francorchamps with its famous Grand-Prix Formula 1 racing circuit, the caves at Remouchamps, the RAVel routesystem for hiking & cycling, many castles, museums, ski slopes, … anyway too much to mention, it is just a stone’s throw away.
Every season has its own charm in this natural environment. Visit in spring time to see nature awakening. During summertime marvel at the abundance of flowers in Coo and the lush greenery of the forests around you. Be in awe over the colours and scents of the woods in autumn and enjoy the stunning snow covered hillsides and impressive waterfalls in winter.
In the direct vicinity you can, ofcourse, wine & dine on our large and sunny terrace and the cosy restaurant Le Baron has to offer. Make your choice out of its fantastic menu following the seasons. There are many hiking and cycling routes starting from your doorstep, varying from 5 to 15 km or more through the hillsides. At 500 meters from your apartment, you will find the water reservoir in the old meander of the Amblève river, with which one generates green electricity. Alongside of the lake is a 5 km path that is flat. You might appreciate that, for a change 😉 . More lakes can be found in Vielsalm, Spa, Gileppe, Robertville and Butchenbach.
Many sportive activities can be done in the region. Hiking, cycling, mountain biking, fishing, bowling, canoeing, golf, horse riding, tennis, skiing, sledging, karting, paragliding and more. There are ski slopes in the near vicinity: Wanne 5 km, Barack Michel 20 km, Botrange 20 km, Lierneux 15 km, Barack Fraitûre 20 km. Both skiing and cross country skiing are possible.
Furthermore there are many museums, castles, abbeys, breweries and caves to be visited. And during the summer season there is a whole range of cultural events. The tourist agencies in Stavelot and Malmedy have a wide arrange of folders and books on the region. Their friendly personnel will happily and proudly show you what their beautiful region has to offer. Stroll around the small cities and old villages to find the perfect souvenir and shop around for their delicious local products: the cheeses, the beers, the honey, the sausages, the chocolate, …
The famous racing circuit of Spa-Francorchamps is at 13 km distance from your apartment. Easy to be reached through Stavelot or via Moulin de Ruy by car. The Formula 1 is undoubtedly one of the largest and most popular sporting events in Belgium. It will not leave you untouched!
The Museum of the Circuit in the Abbey of Stavelot not only illustrates the past, but also the present: prestigious cars and motorbikes, numerous documents and photos. It is a unique museum that you must visit.
